Alison is a Senior Technical Author who specialises in writing about complex software products and applications. She spent many years in the technology industry, programming, designing and integrating software systems. As a result, Alison is the ideal candidate to develop clear documentation for many different audiences, including those who speak geek and those who prefer plain English.

Alison cut her programming teeth working on the ticketing system for the London Underground and progressed to projects for the BBC, Reuters, Oil & Gas companies, the Galileo satellite system and the pharmaceutical company, Merck Sharp & Dohme. She also developed and managed a business continuity framework for a global outsourcing company, helping to protect the outsourced systems for many clients. She worked on the operations model for the company and developed a process modeling framework for the company’s processes.

In her spare time, Alison keeps fit by walking Lottie the Labrador in the Surrey Hills. A keen fan of crime drama, Alison has written her first (practice) novel and plans to start another one soon. She is keen to research her family genealogy after discovering her great-great-uncle has a lizard named after him (Trachylepis wingati).
