A tools evolution
At 3di, we have spent over 20 years assessing and getting the best from industry-leading content tools. We’ve invested in R&D to hone how we deploy them so that it’s more efficient for us to deliver the value our customers need. We’ve applied that same discipline and instinct for innovation to get the best from LLM-based GenAI, without compromising our clients’ data confidentiality and security. We now have a suite of AI-enabled tools we deploy alongside the industry-leading content tools. Our unique technology ecosystem enables you to be confident that your technical content can become, and continue to be, a valuable asset for your business.
So, what are our key tools, and how do we use them in our projects?

3di Migrate
We’ve deployed AI to fast-track analysing legacy content, making it quicker to migrate into new tools.
3di Validate
We’ve combined AI with Vale to enable our writers to check technical content for style and formatting.
3di Enhance
This tool enables us to automatically update styles and metadata to improve navigation, search and AI parsing.
3di Report
Our AI-backed service management tool helps our team monitor and report on how your content is improving.

MadCap Flare
We have been fans of this powerful content authoring and publishing tool for many years. Madcap are the industry leader, and Flare’s topic-based, single-sourcing versatility makes it a great fit for many of our customers.

XTM Cloud
With XTM Cloud, we can handle the wide range of file types our customers ask us to translate. Whether it’s manuals or software strings, into one or thirty languages, we know we can rely on XTM Cloud to provide the processing, flexibility, and scalability we need.

Markdown
We’ve become experts with Markdown because many of our software customers use it. It’s a flexible, open-source content markup language that is an excellent approach for creating a documentation portal that developers can also maintain.

Git
As one of the most popular systems in use today for structuring and managing repositories, we use Git to manage content assets and workflows.

DITA
DITA’s open standard XML-based format makes it an excellent tool for managing large technical documentation projects, especially with its modular content approach and adaptable output.

Jira
One of our favourite project management tools, JIRA, perfectly complements our Agile working practices and collaborative approach.

Confluence
Confluence is another valuable tool for collaboration and information sharing. We use it extensively to manage information flows within our projects.

Azure
We use the Azure cloud computing platform to help structure and manage the backend of many of our projects.
3di’s use of technology

How does our unique tech-stack benefit you?
We combine industry best-practices, with our own expertise honed from working with over 300 customers. With our evolving technology suite added to the mix, we are now even better equipped to solve your specific technical content challenge. Our combination of tools and experience enables us to:
- Meet your specific needs, quickly – When we understand what you’re trying to achieve, we’ll be able to combine the tools and technology in a way that makes it quicker for us to deliver. We’ll often use proven templates, scripts and automated workflows, but in a combination that’s unique to you.
- Target the benefits of AI – We use AI to optimise processes, and to accelerate recognising and replicating patterns, not to create content. As we have always done, smart use of technology means our people and yours can focus on what’s really worthy of their effort.
- Ensure your documentation is future-proof – Your content may well be consumed by AI in future; in ways we can’t yet predict. We’ll deliver clear, structured content that will be easier for your customers to read now, and easier for AI to parse correctly later.
How is 3di using AI tools?
Good quality AI tools are part of a range of technologies that our experts use to get the best results for our customers. To do this, we have invested considerably in the research and development of our AI-backed toolsets.
We have our in-house technology team led by our Head of Technology, Agenor Hofmann-Delbor. His team are tracking the latest developments in AI and other technologies, and work with our customer-facing teams to focus 3di solutions on solving real problems.
For example, we use AI tools to help accelerate specific processes and automate some of the ‘heavy lifting’ so that our team can focus on creating award-winning content for our customers. This helps us deliver the same outstanding quality our team is known for, but more efficiently than before.

Is my content ready for AI?
Whether you know it or not, your content will need to be AI-ready. It needs to be ready for an audience that will increasingly use AI to find, access, and parse your content. If you want AI to interpret your content correctly, some good practices are already emerging.
We’ve been making content that’s easy to find, understand and use for over 20 years. Effective technical content has always been lean, clear, accurate and well-structured. That’s what GenAI tools need too. Well, it is if you want to be able to trust what it tells you.
GenAI interfaces will become powerful everyday tools to help navigate large sets of content, focus in on relevant details, and combine content to answer questions. 3di has the expertise to help ensure your technical content is ready.
