Documentation that can be found, accessed, and used by anyone
Accessibility is one of the key components for creating truly inclusive technical documentation. This means creating an environment where any user can freely and easily access the content in your documentation, regardless of their ability. Not only does making your documentation accessible mean that everyone can find, access, and use your information, but it also builds brand trust. Accessibility principles improve your documentation for all users by increasing comprehension, enforcing good design principles, and optimising for translation and localization.
As technical writing specialists, not only are we aware of the current standards on the market (such as the EEA), but we are also experts in implementing them into your documentation. We have in-house staff who are passionate about documentation accessibility and can help ensure your technical documentation is accessible to all.

What are the core principles of documentation accessibility?
At 3di, we follow four principles in line with W3C’s Web Accessibility Initiative (WAI) to ensure your content is accessible to users with diverse needs. By following these principles we design content that is easily perceivable, navigated, understood, and supported across a range of assistive devices and technologies.
Perceivability
Present your content in ways users can perceive, for example, use alternative text and captions for images and videos.
Operability
Ensure your users can navigate and interact with the content using a variety of means, for example by using just the keyboard.
Understandability
Write clear, easy to understand information, and ensure your UI is intuitive to use.
Robustness
Make your content compatible with current and future technologies.

How can 3di help with your documentation accessibility
At 3di, we have spent over two decades planning, designing, and creating award-winning technical documentation. During this time, our team of technical writers have kept up to date with the latest accessibility guidelines and principles. We can create documentation from a single source that is available in multiple formats and is compatible with different devices, browsers, and assistive technology. We design technical content with readability in mind, and design documentation with intuitive navigation, supporting multiple input methods.
Each project has its own parameters, depending on the type of documentation, the subject matter, and the requirements of the end user. Do you have specific accessibility requirements for your documentation? Get in touch with and let us help.
